Week 3 and further information on Bariloche

This third week of activities will consist of a conference on "Automorphic forms, Galois representations, and geometric representation theory". It will take place at the Instituto Balseiro - Centro At贸mico Bariloche from August 15 to 19.

The goal of the conference is to bring together specialists in the fields mentioned in the title in the hope that methods from one field can help to clarify unsolved problems in the others. The organization of the conference should reflect this goal: each morning will be devoted to a question that can be approached from several perspectives and will consist in a dialog between specialists in at least two of the fields represented. An important theme will be the search for a geometric framework for the p-adic Langlands program. Emphasis will be placed on describing problems that cannot be solved by current techniques, rather than presenting finished work, and most participants will not be expected to give formal lectures. Afternoons will be left open either to follow up on the morning's topics or for informal discussions.

Travel

There are several ways of reaching Bariloche (air, bus, car), although we suggest that you fly from Buenos Aires or C贸rdoba (via Buenos Aires), due to the long distance to either place (1600 km).

The Bariloche International Airport (BRC) is served by the two main carriers (Aerolineas Argentinas and LAN), as well as a few smaller regional airlines.

Several bus companies link Bariloche to Buenos Aires (v铆a Bariloche, Crucero del Norte, Chevallier, etc) and C贸rdoba (TUS, Flecha Bus, via TAC). But you should consider that it usually takes 20 hours to cover Buenos Aires - Bariloche and 22 for C贸rdoba - Bariloche (with good weather). For more details, check Plataforma 10.

Local transportation: you can move in Bariloche using taxis, remises (car with chauffeur), buses (can pay with money or prepaid cards) or rental cars. More information will be provided as the date of the conference comes closer.
