Mar del Plata (Argentina), 19 nov - 30 nov

The city

Founded in 1874, Mar del Plata is a city famous for its magnificent beaches. It offers a wide variety of restaurants, movie theatres, shops and entretainment.

Venue

The School will take place at Hotel Guerrero.

Arrival and practical information

Long-distance flights arrive at the Ezeiza International Airport Ministro Pistarini. Domestic flights, as well as some flights from South America, arrive at Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport.

Currency can be exchanged at both Buenos Aires airports (we recommend Banco Nación). Teller machines are available and work with most major credit cards. The Argentinean Peso (ARS) sign is the same $ as for US dollars. Official rate is around 4.70 ARS/USD. Some exchange offices in Mar del Plata are La Moneta and Jonestur (note that the School does not endorse any exchange office).

Public phones are either coin or card-operated. Cards are available at the airport. You can also dial #19 to make a collect call.

How to get to Mar del Plata

With CIMPA bus

The CIMPA School will organize a bus leaving Buenos Aires on November 19th directly to the hotel, and back on November 30th. If you are interested, email us so we can put your name on the list. The bus leaves Aeroparque Jorge Newbery Airport on 19/11 at 16:00 sharp.

If you do not want to be bored the whole day in the airport, you can come meet us at the University, and be bored here instead. Cross the road and take a taxi (around $25) or any city bus (lines 33, 37, 45, and 160; costs $2, payable only with coins; get off when it enters the campus). You may leave the bags with us and visit the "Parque de la Memoria", which is 5 minutes walking from the campus. The same bus will leave the University at 15:40 sharp.

See also transfer between airports if you land at Ezeiza International Airport Ministro Pistarini.
