Travel Instructions from/to Buenos Aires / Colonia

How to arrive to Colonia

From Buenos Aires

The best way to go to Colonia del Sacramento is first go to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and then take a boat (the company is called Buquebús), to Colonia. "Buquebús" will offer a discount to the Colloquium participants, we will inform details latter.

The standard price for a trip Buenos Aires -> Colonia (ida) is 89 pesos argentinos (1 dolar = 2,9 pesos argentinos aprox., so 89 pesos = 30 US$ dolar aprox.) for the fast boat (1 hour trip) and 51 pesos argentinos in the slow one (3 hours trip).

The timetable for the boats are:

From the International Airport of Buenos Aires (Ezeiza)

There is a bus, called Manuel Tienda Leon, each 45 minutes, that takes you in Ezeiza and leave you in "plaza Retiro" (downtown, close to Sheraton hotel, see the map below). At this point ((2) in the map) you are 500 meters from the Ferry terminal. We suggest to take a taxi, ask the taxi driver to go to "Terminal del ferry".

It worth noticing that at Manuel tienda Leon's terminal, you can leave your luggage, and it is for free if you pick it up before 11 P.M. In the Ferry-boat terminal there are no lockers.

From Aeroparque Jorge Newberry (domestic airport of Buenos Aires)

The bus numer 33 costs 0.80 pesos, and will take you from Aeroparque to the Buquebús Terminal in about 30 minuts. You should descend at "Avenida Alem y Córdoba". A taxi should cost about 10 pesos.

From Carrasco Airport in Montevideo

If you arrive at Carrasco Airport in Uruguay, you should take a bus from there to "Terminal de Tres Cruces", and then a bus to Colonia. There are several companies, some information (in spanish) is available at http://www.tushopping.com.uy/tc/.
