WEATHER
In July it is Winter in Buenos Aires. It is not extremely cold (it does not snow) but one has to wear some warm clothing. It is advisable to bring a sweater to wear indoors. It is rather humid and it may rain. For more details please see a weather report page, such as this.

MONEY
The current exchange rate is approx. three argentine pesos ($) for one U.S. dollar (USD). There are money exchange agencies at the international airport and in many places around the city, especially in the downtown area. Cash machines are available everywhere around the city. Purchases with credit card are usual, but it is advisable to check with your bank if your card is active in Argentina. In a few stores U.S. dollars may be accepted.

ON ARRIVAL
If you arrive through the International Airport: it is suggested that you take a taxi in one of the official stands or the Manuel Tienda Leon bus. The trip to the city lasts approx. 40 minutes and the cost by taxi should be approx. USD 30. We suggest taking a taxi directly to your housing destination. Another good option: take the Manuel Tienda Leon bus to Aeroparque (this is the airport for domestic flights). From Aeroparque to Palermo, Belgrano or Ciudad Universitaria it is a short trip in taxi (about USD 4).
If you arrive by bus: it is suggested that you take a taxi from the bus terminal directly to your housing destination. For example, a trip from Retiro to Belgrano should be around USD 10.

COLECTIVOS: 28, 33, 37, 42, 45, 107 or 160. More details.
In all colectivos one has to pay with coins only. The fare is $1. If you take colectivos 37 or 160, check that they have a sign saying “Ciudad Universitaria”.

TRAIN: Line FGMB, Station Dr. Scalabrini Ortiz. Useful if you come from near the Retiro area.

TAXI: Approx. $10 from Belgrano or Plaza Italia, approx. $25 from downtown. Up to four passengers may share a taxi. One has the option of calling taxis by phone or of taking them directly in the street. Enter Ciudad Universitaria with taxi through any of its two entrances; then short walk to Pabellón 1.

WALKING: From Belgrano to Ciudad Universitaria it may take 45 minutes. Take Av. Cabildo (see map) up to Pampa. Walk along Pampa until you reach Figueroa Alcorta (a big avenue). Up to here it is a nice and easy walk that may take around 30 minutes. It remains a 15 minutes walk to Ciudad Universitaria, which is better to do the first time with a local person, to get precise directions. The rough directions are: cross Figueroa Alcorta and take left, walk aprox. one block, then cross the bridge that you see on your right, above the highway. Then turn left and you see Ciudad Universitaria. In any case, it is suggested to walk in a group.
